Freedom is defined as the condition of being free of restraints but freedom for me has a great and deeper meaning. Freedom is the power to make ones own decisions, the power to caper, the power to accost ones mind with appear boundaries. Freedom is a frame of mind. One is all truly free when they themselves believe it to be so. This mentality of freedom is outstrip seen in party boss Bromdens character. Although he lives in world full of rules, he slowly but surely breaks from the chains, and begins to believe himself free, regardless of his location. This way of thinking, accept him to finally become physically free.      In the beginning of the novel the Chief is stuck in some sort of " softness" that acts as his way of covert from the outside world and all his problems. Everyone on the ward thought him to be a deaf mute because he never talked. But the rectitude was that he wasnt deaf or mute, but it wasnt until he started coming out of the f og, that he began to improve. Chief once said that, " he knows you have to laugh at the things that hurt you just conceal yourself in balance, just to keep you from running plumb crazy"(123). Laughter is what helped him to come out of him fog and talk for the showtime time in many years. " At first I started getting real mad.
